West Siang lift 15th Tadar Tang State Level Football Trophy
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: West Siang beat defending champion Capital Complex Sporting Club 2-0 to win the 15th Tadar Tang State Level Football Tournament in a keenly-fought final match.
Jumdo Padu and Gemar Loya scored a goal each for the newly crowned champions in a packed RG Stadium, Naharlagun on Wednesday.
Capital Complex made all out attempts in search of the equalizer. But they were denied any chance to restore parity as organized West Siang defenders and keeper thwarted all attempts.
West Siang coach M Sora credited the team's victory to District Football Association (DFA), which worked hard to train the players and select the best team.
Bengia Tagi of CCSC was adjudged the player of the tournament while Dodam Loyi of West Siang was chosen as the best goalkeeper. Tarh Rajkumar of Kra Daadi became the highest scorer.
The final match was witnessed by Home and RWD Minister Kumar Waii, Director (Sports) Tadar Appa, Chairman of Sports Authority of Arunachal (SAA) Gora Makik and vice chairman (SAA) Gechi Doke, among others.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) has selected a 21 players for the ensuing 71st National Football Championships for Santosh Trophy to be held in Meghalaya during January-February, 2017.
Kipa Bharat and Dare Takar have been appointed as the head coach and manager of the team respectively.

CM inaugurates 6th ALG at Tuting
TUTING, Dec 28: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday inaugurated the newly constructed Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) in Tuting in presence of Education Minister Honchun Ngandam, Deputy Speaker Alo Libang, State BJP President Tapir Gao and Air Marshal Hari Kumar, AOC-in-C, HQ Eastern Air Command.
The ALG Tuting is under the control of Air Force Station, Jorhat and it is the 6th ALG to be operationalised in Arunachal Pradesh. It has been jointly constructed by Itanagar based TK Engineering group and Hyderabad based Nagarjuna Construction Company.
In 2009, the Govt. of India under former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh during former Chief Minster late Dorjee Khandu had come into an agreement to upgrade all landing grounds in the state, informed the Chief Minister.
Addressing a gathering of defence personnel, administrative officials, Gaon Burahs, local public and school children in the Air Traffic Control building, Pema said the decision was also taken then for the dual use of the ALGs to be used for defence and civilian purposes.
He informed that Pasighat ALG will be the first to have civilian terminal with commencing of Air India flights to the city soon, which was the outcome of his recent talks with the civilian aviation ministry.
Since Arunachal is the biggest state in North East in terms of geographical area, its biggest challenge is the connectivity, said Pema.
With ALGs being operationalised in Mechuka, Tuting, Aalo, Pasighat, Ziro and Vijoynagar, the chief minister said, it will boost regional connectivity in the state and provide further impetus to tourism industry and contribute to the local economy. However, the seventh ALG in Tawang is yet to reach completion, he said.
Pema disclosed that he will be visiting Tuting again with the DoNER Minister in January next for inauguration of a bridge.
Speaking on the occasion, Air Marshal Hari Kumar appreciated the cooperation of local people and the state government in early completion of the ALG.
During his visit, the chief minister also inspected the new ATC control room, office complex and officer's mess.
Large number of people turn up at AAPSU donation camp for Wakka fire victim

ITANAGAR, Dec 28: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has collected an amount of Rs 293162( Two lakhs ninety three thousand one hundred sixty two) during its two-day donation camp organised at different locations in Capital Complex including Naharlagun and Nirjuli for Wakka fire victims.
It is said that more than 1639 samaritans came forward and contributed cash or kind for the fire accident affected families of Wakka.
The generous people from all walks of life turned up to donate materials like clothes, bags, shoes, blankets, utensils and rice etc during the two day donation camp which concluded on Wednesday. It was assisted by Rajiv Gandhi University Research Scholars Forum and Lily Jomoh, Assistant Professor of DNGC Itanagar.
AAPSU President Hawa Bagang acknowledged the generosity of the people for the cause of Wakka fire victims. "We are overwhelmed to see the people's support for the cause of Wakka fire victims, and we do hope people of Arunachal will always stand united and support each other in such adversities " said Bagang.
General Secretary Tobom Dai informed that similar donation cum relief camp would be conducted by their federal units in their respective districts. The donation camp was conducted successfully under active guidance of Tayuk Sonam (VP Protocol), Meje Taku(VP Admin) and Thomas Jerang AGS(P).
Need to formulate DIP to regulate water distribution: Sinha
TAWANG, Dec 28: Joint Secretary to Union Ministry of Agriculture, RB Sinha underscored the importance of formulating a proper District Irrigation Plan(DIP) by taking into consideration the forecast of water requirement in the coming years so as to increase efficiency and regulate proper distribution.
Sinha, who was in Tawang said this during a meeting with the head of departments convened under his chairmanship at Zomkhang Hall here on Wednesday.
While highlighting on the overall scenario of potable water in the entire country and informing about the low water efficiency, he said that serious threat is being posed by contamination from various sources.
He stressed on the importance of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) and how the same would help in increasing agricultural productivity.
Tawang DC, Sang Phuntsok further informed that the District Irrigation Plan is under preparation by NABCONS and is likely to be completed by coming month. He also placed before the Joint Secretary, problems being faced by farmers due to monkey and wild boar menace and how the same has compelled many to abandon farming altogether. The Secretary assured to take up the matter with the Wild life Institute of India and said that funding would be arranged for necessary action. When apprised by the DC about the increase in various diseases within the area possibly due to chemical contamination in water and also about the fragile topography of the region resulting into frequent landslides that has even taken up numerous lives, the Joint Secretary said that the problems would be flagged before the higher Authority in the Centre. AR refutes allegation as baseless
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: Assam Rifles (AR) on Wednesday refuted the allegation leveled against it by All Arunachal Students' Union (AAPSU) that the army (AR) were responsible for the December 22 Wakka fire accident.
AAPSU in a press conference had blamed AR for the fire devastation and claimed that the youths from the village were engaged in clearing the jungle alongside the BRTF road on the fateful day.
The apex students' body stated that had the boys been in the village and not engaged by the Assam Rifles, they could have atleast saved some of the houses. The disaster would not have been this large scale.
Describing the allegation as incorrect and unsubstantiated, AR clarified that the village youths mentioned in the report were engaged in routine activity under the supervision of village committee and not under the Assam Rifles.
"The fire incident is an unfortunate incident and loss of a life is regrettable. However, correlating it with Assam Rifles is totally wrong and baseless," the AR release said.
"On the contrary, the troops of Assam Rifles extended all possible help in the trying circumstances to extinguish the fire and provided meals and refreshments and immediate medical aid to 62 villagers," the release added.
Lifter Jimjang creates new national record
NAGERCOIL (Tamil Nadu), Dec 28: Jimjang Deru on Tuesday created a new national record in clean & jerk event in men's 62kg category with a lift of 153kg to secure the gold medal on Day Two of the Senior National Weightlifting Championships.
Jimjang lifted 113kg in snatch before breaking the national record in the clean & jerk with a brilliant effort of 153kg for a total of 266kg to finish on the top of the podium.
The earlier national record was in the name of Rustam Sarang of Chhattisgarh.
In other weight divisions, Saraswati Rout of Railway Sports Promotion Board and Punjab's Jasvir Kaur bagged the gold medals in women's 58kg and women's 63kg respectively.
DC for strict implementation of the PC& PNDT Act
PASIGHAT, Dec 28: East Siang DC, Isha Khosla has called for strict implementation of the PC & PNDT Act (Prohibition of Sex Selection) in the district and asked all the Ultra Sound (USG) centers to comply with the provisions of the Act.
Khosla was addressing the District level Review meeting for the members of District Advisory Committee, District Inspection Committee here on Wedensday.
While stressing on compulsory registration of USG centers, she added that prior information on acquiring or change of equipments etc. and display of notice prominently in the USG centers and hospital premises in local dialects for public awareness are mandatory.
Members of Advisory Committee and representatives of USGs of the district also attended the meeting.
DC also called upon the medical practitioners for their active cooperation in checking misuse of pre-natal diagnostic techniques for sex determination. Further, she asked for regular inspection, filing of monthly records.
Earlier, DMO, Dr. M Perme, who is also member secretary of the District Advisory and Inspection Committee, in his Powerpoint presentation, highlighted the functions, roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders, procedures for registration, for filling up Pre-Natal Diagnostics tests. 'The Child Sex Ratio of East Siang as per Census 2011 stands at 988 from 958 in 2001 census', he further informed.
Members including Medical Superintendent, Dr, Y R Darang, Dr. D Perme, Dr. T Tali, Dr. K Tatin, Advocate Toning Pertin, ABK Women Wing, President, Yalem Burang, WASE General secretary, Jaya Tasung Moyong, ZPM Okom Yosung and representatives from various diagonostic centres attended the meeting. Villagers remembers ancestors, felicitates eminent personalities

NARI-SEREN, Dec 28: The Lumpo Employee Welfare Society (LEWS), a union of Government employees, organized two-day programme themed 'Gu:min Soyin Alo-2016' at Lumpo Upper Primary School at Nari in East Siang to memorialize their ancestors, who contributed immensely for development of Lumpo village.
Founder of Lumpo village late Mugbom Ronya and first Head Gaon Burah and Anchal Samiti member of Lumpo Late Takar Kaye were commemorated by the villagers. The organizers also awarded memento to their living descendants.
Speaking at the concluding day programme on Wednesday, Lumpo Head Gaon Burah Jomi Bomjen said there was no difference in the origin and evolution of the Adis (including Galos) and Misings living in Arunachal and Assam.
Highlighting the background of settlement of the villages along boundary area, Bomjen said, Adis, Galos and Misings have been keeping cordial relation since long and this peaceful coexistence should be maintained at any cost.
Senior public leader Karto Kaye in his address appealed to the villagers to give up divisive mind in terms of politics and religion and work united for development of the area.
He was optimistic that the efforts initiated by LEWS will unite the society and influence the younger generation to respect their parents and elders.
Among others, chief adviser of LEWS, Ibom Jirdo, retired principal Mirken Kadu, senior citizen of Laimekuri (Assam) Dhoni Doley, LEWS president Dekbom Boje and secretary Mito Bomjen also spoke on the occasion, urged the youths to shoulder responsibility for social reform.
The organizers also felicitated a number of eminent persons including the old-aged men and women with memento and certificates as a token of appreciation.
Keto Miroh and Tadek Boje were honoured for donating land to Lumpo Upper Primary School, one Romni Miroh was honoured for setting an example of ideal mother by taking proper care of her blind husband. Besides, retired Principal Mirken Kadu and retired BLEW, Bedo Ete were felicitated for their immense contribution during their service period, while Ai Agam Woman Self help Group was feted for organizing massive cleanliness drive under Swachch Bharat Abhiyan in the area.
In the meeting, some meritorious students of the village, who have excelled in the last Arunachal Pradesh Joint Entrance Examination and other academic examinations, were also felicitated with certificates and cash awards.
A free health camp was also organized on the earlier day, wherein team of specialist doctor and medical staffs conducted health check up, eye screening, tests for hepatitis and blood sugar and gave vaccine for Hepatitis. The medical team led by Dr Tape Kaye (Eye specialist) treated as many as 415 patients with different ailments during day-long health camp.
Lumpo village adjacent to Nari ADC headquarter is one of the old villages in Lower Ramle Banggo area fall in 36-Nari-Koyu constituency. The village presently has above 1000 population, wherein people of 26-different clans/communities are dwelling peacefully.
BJP Mahila Morcha conducts relief camp for Wakka fire victims
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: To give succor to the Wakka fire victims, the State BJP Mahila Morcha organized a relief programme at State BJP office here on Wednesday, wherein warm clothes, eatables, blankets, utensils and other essential commodities were collected.
The programme was led by the State Mahila Morcha president Bengia Yayang Tadar and joined by all the State Mahila office bearers and other members.
The State Mahila Morcha president appealed to the all party leaders and cadres to extend support to the fire victims, whose' houses, properties and all belongings were devoured by the devastating fire.
The members, who joined the programme, also shared their grief with the victims and committed themselves to donate for the victims.
Oram assures Arunachal about hiking annual allocation
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram has assured Arunachal Pradesh about hiking the annual allocation of his ministry to the state.
Oram gave this assurance to states Women and Child Development Parliamentary Secretary Gojen Gadi, who accompanied with Union MoS (Home) Kiren Rijiju called on the Union minister at New Delhi yesterday, an official release said here.
Pointing out that Arunachal is one of the poorest states with under-developed rural areas inhabited by scheduled tribes, Gadi justified his demand by saying that the state having no economic generation source solely depends on the Centre for various development.
Gadi said that he told the minister that the land-locked state had 21 districts, mostly located along remote border areas, while most of the schools having cent per cent tribal students have been running without hostels resulting in miseries for the students during rainy days.
Immediate construction of hostels is essential for the tribal students to be on par with their mainstream counterparts, Gadi said with the union minister agreeing to increase allocation to meet the basic requirements of the state, the release said. PTI
Parl Secy distributes dustbin
NAMSAI, Dec 28: Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary (Planning) Chau Zingnu Namchoom on Wednesday distributed 55 PVC dustbins for uses in religious places, market areas, schools, hospital and offices in and around Namsai township.
While distributing the dustbins, Namchoom urged all to keep their surrounding and public places neat and clean for healthy environment.
He requested the officials of UD & Housing, Namsai for proper disposal and management of solid waste.
Deputy Commissioner Namsai RK Sharma emphasized involvement of NGOs, students, bazar communities in total sanitation programme under Swatch Bharat Abiyan (SBA).
Namchoom also gave away prizes to the winners of essay competition conducted under awareness programme on SBA.
The Deputy Director, UD & Housing, Namsai and other government officers accompanied the Parliamentary Secretary.
On Tuesday, Namchoom visited hospitals and schools within his constituency along with the Deputy Commissioner, DMO, ZPC and ZPM of Namsai.

Community Hall inaugurated at Old Rangran village
CHANGLANG, Dec 28: A community Hall constructed by DRDA, Changlang under BADP was inaugurated by Parliamentary Secretary (Hydro-power) and Changlang South Assembly Constituency MLA Phosum Khimhun in presence of Changlang Deputy Commissioner Wayong Khimhun, all HoDs, PRI members and public of Old Rangran village.
Speaking on the occasion, the Parliamentary Secretary urged the public to use the community hall judiciously and to keep it free from stray animals. He suggested the villagers to cultivate large cardamom and oranges since the lands here are suitable for cultivation of such horticultural crops. Neba win Si-Donyi Volleyball tourney

DAPORIJO, Dec 28: Neba volleyball team won the Si-Donyi Volleyball Tournament Trophy beating Rydo Volleyball team in 3-0 sets in the final at festival ground on Saturday last.
Neba defeated Tamu Tadu volleyball team 2-1 and Rydo defeated Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union 2-0 in the semifinals.
Altogether, 7 volleyball teams participated in the tournament organized by Dumporijo Si-Donyi festival celebration committee.
AASSATA demands punishment to murderer
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: The Central Executive Committee of All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers Association (CEC AASSATA) on Wednesday strongly condemned the alleged gruesome murder of Junior Teacher Manthai Mossang under Borsattam Manmao circle of Changlang district. It is said that late Mossang was brutally murdered by miscreant recently.
In a statement, AASSATA made fervent appeal to the authority to award stringent action against the perpetrators involved in gruesome murder. The association also expressed heartfelt condolence to bereaved family of late Manthai Mossang.
Ensure completion of schemes under RuRBAN by 2019: Byaling
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: Minister for Rural Development & Panchayat Raj (RD&PR), Tanga Byaling advised the Rural Development department to take up the identified individual scheme which is to be converged for Rural Urban (RuRBAN) with respective departments to ensure required funding so that the scheme could be completed by 2019.
He was speaking during a meeting convened at the SIRD conference hall on Wednesday, with all the stakeholders on convergence of central sector and SIDF schemes for proper implementation of Rural Urban (RuRBAN) at Tuting.
The said scheme aims at providing all facilities that are available at urban cities to the identified rural area, which was launched by the central government during 2015.
The total cost of the scheme has been worked out for Rs. 68 crore (Rs. 53 crore through convergence and Rs. 15 crore by GoI in the form of Critical Gap Fund).
The minister also suggested for taking up the matter related to providing Critical Gap Fund to the extent of Rs. 30 crore at par with the plain areas instead of Rs. 15 crore for hilly states considering the state's tough and hilly terrain which involves high construction costs.
RD&PR secretary, Dani Salu was also present on the occasion.
Christmas celebrated with pomp and gaiety
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: Christian Revival Church (CRC) in Daporijo, one of the prominent churches and central church of Upper Subansiri district unit of APCRCC (Arunachal Pradesh Christian Revival Church Council) has joined the rest of the world in celebrating the Christmas Day with all pomp, gaiety and spirituality.
The two-day celebrations witnessed choreographies, artistic programmes, praise and worship, biblical discourses, cake-cutting, merry-making and feasting.
Attending the celebrations as the main speaker Dr. David Pertin, Deputy Registrar of Rajiv Gandhi University in his discourses centered on the theme verse Mathew 1:23 called for self introspection and play one's part to spread the true essence of Christmas love, joy, peace and hope to the society by becoming the stars of Christ as it was to the three wise men of the Bible.
Building upright and Godly attitude from inner self was also emphasized to the hundreds of enthusiastic revelers, while reminding that Jesus Christ became poor to make the people spiritually rich.

APHPM&PB members survey rural primary market site
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: A team of Arunachal Pradesh Horticulture Produce Marketing & Processing Board (APHPM&PB) members led by Chairman, Kipa Niya on Tuesday last, surveyed the sites at Upper Sher under Kimin Circle for the establishment of retail market and rural primary market.
The surveyed site was selected for establishment of Rural Primary Market considering its proximity to the highway which would help rural people to sell their products.
The Chairman was accompanied by Horticulture Development Officer, Yupia, Joram Batt besides, Horticulture Marketing Officers Maga Tall and Dego Ronya and APHPM&PB member, Tarh Loram.
APLS expands its activities
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: True to its commitment to promote the budding literary talent throughout the state, the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) has expanded its literary activities in the district level with formation of its first district unit in East Siang in an impressive function held at Pasighat on Wednesday.
Presiding over the function, APLS general secretary Batem Pertin, director of research, spoke on the vision of the APLS under the guidance of its president and noted litterateur Y D Thongchi. In his brief speech, Pertin also called upon the masses, particularly the young students to take part in literary pursuit of the Society.
The eight-member district APLS unit will be headed by former Director of Elementary Education Bodong Yirang and Group Captain (Retd), Mohonto Pangging, as its president and general secretary.
The APLS has completed its 10 years of existence recently.
Consumer awareness campaign organized
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: As part of 'Consumer Awareness Week', the department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs (LM&CA) organized a consumer awareness campaign in the office of Circle Office, Shergaon, West Kameng district on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Shergoan CO, Mudo Tamo urged the traders not to indulge in any form of adulteration and malpractices. He further asked them to maintain the quality, quantity and price of the product as per the norms.
Earlier, LM&CA Assistant Controller, Tasso Gurro informed the gathering about the assistance provided by the authorities to compensate any grievances. He also appealed traders not to exceed the price of the commodities beyond MRP.
Resource person, Prem Chetry highlighted the importance of consumer education and urged all to remain aware about market and its phenomenon to avoid being cheated.
Along with the traders and general public, GBs of three circles also attended the programme.
Career counseling program conducted
DIYUN, Dec 27: Over 400 students and teachers from both government and private schools participated in a day-long career counseling program held at the Auditorium Hall, Circuit House, here on Tuesday last.
During the counseling programme organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Chakma Students Union (APCSU) in collaboration with the 11 Grenadiers, Indian Army, Dumba camp, Major Abhimanyu of 11 Grenadiers, Indian Army, briefed the students about the various exams for joining the Indian Army such as NDA, CDS, SSC, etc. He also urged the girl students to join the Indian Army.
Evict encroachers
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: The All East Kameng Students' Union (AEKSU) has in a memorandum to East Kameng DC on Tuesday last, appealed to him to immediately evict land encroachers near Pacha Bridge stating that rampant encroachment hampers the vehicular movement.
It has also sought immediate ban on illegal sale of wine, tobacco, cigarette etc within the premises of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Seppa.
'Shopkeepers near the Govt. Higher Secondary School, Seppa often sell wine, tobacco and cigarette, which would have a bad influence on innocent students,' it claimed.
Union resents over authority
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: Nyapin Nyobia Sangram Phassang Students' Union(NNSPSU) on Wednesday resented over alleged failure of the authority to constitute an inquiry committee to investigate in the disruption of Paniu River Bailey Bridge and blocking of the road by the miscreants on November 28, 2016.
In a letter to Chief Secretary the union stated that whoever involved in condemnable act should be brought to justice. The union further claimed that alleged suspects involved in road blocking and damaging of bridge are running scott free thus encouraging criminals to take the law in their own hands. They served the fifteen days ultimatum to constitute an inquiry committee to find out the truth.

ITANAGAR, Dec 28: Joint Working Committee of Arunachal Pradesh Trade Unions (JWCAPTU) has served ultimatum to the state government reiterating its fourteen points charter of demand, The demands include enhancement of wage of contingency/casual workers, regularization of workers who have completed 12 years in service and regularization of ALCs etc. The JWCAPTU is conglomeration of various worker unions .
Two Community Halls handed over to villagers
AALO, Dec 28: The two semi-RCC Community Halls at Yeggo and Kombo Bili executed by AP State Cooperative (Technical) were handed over to the villagers amid applause on Wednesday.

Traditional dance and drama competition organized
ITANAGAR, Dec 28: Upper Jumi dance and drama group clinched the first position while Lower Jumi and Tadar Hapa village secured second position in the traditional dance and drama competition jointly organized by the Vivekananda Kendra Itanagar and Project Vivek Kiran, Kimin, held at Lower Jumi village, Papum Pare district on Tuesday last.
The winners will be further taking part in a district level competition to be held in Itanagar on Jan 12 next.
